The Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad is a journey you will not soon forget. This adventurous train ride takes you along the Cuyahoga River and the historic Ohio and Erie Canal Towpath Trail between Cleveland and Akron. The coaches were built in the 40’s and 50’s and are heated and air conditioned for your comfort. Children will love the experience of riding the old passenger train.
Another attraction for children of all ages is Harry London Candies. You must make a reservation for a 45-minute tour of their 200,000 square foot chocolate factory. While on the tour you will learn about cocoa beans and enjoy samples of their fresh chocolates. They also have a Chocolate gift shop boasting to be the largest in the Midwest hosting over 500 different types of gourmet and chocolate candies.
Price's Indoor Miniature Golf is open rain, shine, or snow. Miniature golf enthusiasts will find an eighteen-hole course offering electronic obstacles. They also offer sand volleyball courts.
The Akron Zoo features African lions, American Bald Eagles, Chilean flamingoes, Andean condors, Dumeril’s ground boa, Galapagos Tortoise, Jaguars, Hyacinth macaw, Greater African flamingoes, Humboldt Penguins, llamas, Malayan Sun bears, Red pandas, pygmy goats, North American River otters, fruit bats, snow leopards, tigers and many more animals.
Perhaps the most enticing attraction for the younger generation is Dover Lake Waterpark. Dover Lake hosts the largest water/theme activity park in Northeast Ohio sitting on 56 acres of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park located between Akron and Cleveland. The attractions offered are:
• Lily Pad Lagoon – a lazy river ride over 800 feet long with curves and corners, rain showers and water sprays hop in a tube and enjoy a lazy ride.

Wipe Out has fast turns, lots of water and very fast. Pipeline is for riders 48 inches or taller consisting of great tube action. Cowabunga is for riders 48 inches or taller sending you down the slide at a very fast speed through the turns and curves ending with a big splash at the bottom. Suislide is for riders 48 inches or taller and is one of the fastest on the mountain ending with a thrilling drop into the splash pool at the bottom
• If the ocean experience is what you are looking for the Whitecap Wave Pool is sure to please you with ocean like waves that you can ride or swim.
• Tube Rides - Whitewater Rapids Mountain Ride is for riders 48 inches or taller offering thrills of speed and splashes from pool to pool as you float down the mountain. Cascade River Falls is a long slow tube ride down the mountain featuring wild waterfalls. The Rovers Rolling River Ride is for the younger kids and is a thrill even at the slower pace.
• Paddle Boats – many paddleboats are available for your enjoyment at Dover Lake Water Park. Hop in one and take a ride around the lake.
• Water Whirl is a water attraction for the younger kids full of splashing and spinning.
