Camping sites are abundant in New York State and here are a few of the most popular spots.
Ausable Chasm Campground is located on the picturesque grounds of the Ausable Chasm just north of Keeseville. They offer 135 camping sites, a playground, a pool, a motel, and cabins. There are many biking and hiking trails in the area. While at Ausable Chasm, explore the area by visiting the Elephant’s Head, Hyde’s Cave, Mystic Gorge, and Rainbow Falls.
Battenkill Riversports Cambridge, New York offers river front tent sites, RV hook up sites with 35 amp service, a dumping station, convenience store, clean showers with hot and cold water, buffet BBQ, and canoe, kayak, and tube rentals. There is also a recreation area with playground, biking and hiking trails, and fly fishing instruction.
Belvedere Lake Resort located near Roseboom, New York encircles the beautiful pristine Lake Belvedere. They offer campsites, RV hookups, and cottages. If you enjoy golfing, you can try your skills at their par 3, 9-hole course. They also have a playground, baseball field, basketball, tennis, and a petting zoo. There are many attractions close by and some a few miles away.
Camp Chautauqua is located near Stow, New York in the Chautauqua Lake area of Western New York. They offer camping sites, RV sites, and tent sites. Come enjoy the fresh waters, streams, and woods of this beautiful area. No matter what time of year you stay there is something to do from fishing, hunting, and sailing, boating, and hiking, to cross-country skiing.
The Catskill Mountain region has many campgrounds and here are few of them:
• Brookside Campgrounds, Catskill, New York offers 30 sites some with electric, showers, a commons area, swimming, and fishing.
• Catskill Campground, Catskill, New York has 50 sites, showers, recreation area, a store, ice, showers, and swimming.
• Cedar Grove, Catskill, New York, has 50 sites half with electric hookups, boat rentals, fishing, and swimming, showers, and a store.
• Woods Road Campsite, Catskill, New York offers 86 sites 50 with electric, showers, a store, swimming, and more.
Cooperstown Beaver Valley Cabins and Campsites is located just five miles from Cooperstown home of the Baseball Hall of Fame. The campsite sits on 276 acres of woods, ponds, wildflowers, and meadows. You can fly a kite, ride a paddleboat, or fish a spring-fed pond. They have several campsites available all with picnic table and fire ring. Many campsites offer electric and many offer nothing but the great outdoors. They also have cabins and cottages available.
Cooperstown Famous Family Campground located in Cooperstown offers all facilities and more than 100 sites. They have it all including RVs with cable TV. This is truly a family campground offering pancake breakfasts, live music, fishing, craft shows, swimming pool, paddleboats, recreation room, complimentary pony rides, and a petting zoo.
Country Roads Campground located in Gilboa, New York offers over 100 campsites, a pool, Jacuzzi, and more. They offer wooded or grassy sites with or without water, sewer, and electricity. If you do not have camping equipment they have trailers and cabins available to rent. At Country Roads, it is a fun time for everyone. There is a playground, volleyball, horseshoes, badminton, and Ping-Pong. They also have an indoor game room.
Covered Bridge Campsite located in Livingston Manor on the Willowemoc River has 70 campsites, and an area for tents. You can enjoy fishing at the campsite or drive a short distance to swim. This campsite has a very strict noise policy.
Gardner Hill Campground in Lowman, New York offers 150 camping sites some with electric, water, and sewer. Pull-through sites and rustic tent areas. They have trailer rentals also. Picnic tables and fire rings at each site. The bathhouse has hot and cold running water and showers are free. There is a laundry room, store, firewood, recreation room, fishing area, and swimming pool.
Green Harbor Campground is located in Lyndonville, New York, near beautiful Lake Ontario. They offer many campsites, boat rentals, a boat ramp, swimming, fishing, a dump station and sewer. They have electric, a propane station, recreation room, laundry, playground, cabins, canoeing, and much more.
Hudson Valley Region has many campgrounds and here are a few of them:
• Lake Taghkanic State Park, Ancram, New York offers 60 sites, showers, boat rentals, swimming, and fishing.
• Croton Point, Croton, New York offers 180 campsites, 48 have electric, showers, fishing, swimming, and a recreation area.
• Oleana Campground, West Copake, New York has 325 sites all with full hook-ups. They also offer swimming, fishing, showers, a store, ice, laundry, and a recreation building.
• Korn's located at Middletown, New York has 98 sites with electric hook-ups, showers, fishing and swimming, a camp store, laundry, ice, and recreation area.
Iroquois RV Park & Campground located in Peru, New York close to beautiful Lake Champlain offers 160 RV sites, 35 Pull through sites, 190 full hookup sites, and tent sites. They have shady spots and sunny spots available. This is a family park with a security gate, laundry, and modern restroom. Activities available are swimming, fishing, and paddleboats.
Lake George area has many campgrounds also and here are a few of them:
• Evergreen Camping Resort, Lake George, New York is located in one of the most picturesque areas of New York. If you love the outdoors, you will love Evergreen Camping Resort. They have RV sites, trailer sites, and tent sites. This is a family resort offering two pools, canoeing, fishing, tubing, golf, volleyball, and more.
• Lake George RV Park offers 390 campsites many that are setup for big rigs with four way hookups at each site. Water, sewer, and cable TV are available also. There is a picnic table and fire ring at each site. They offer a fully stocked store, 2 laundry areas, LP gas, firewood, showers, snack bars, video arcades and pool tables. They have an indoor heated pool, two kiddy pools, and two heated outdoor pools. They have paddleboats, tennis courts, bike trails, fishing, and four playgrounds. Garbage is picked up daily.
• Lake George/Saratoga Campground offers spectacular views of the lake and the Adirondack Mountains. Come enjoy a vacation of fishing, swimming, boating, hiking, rafting, and more.
• Lake George/Schroon Valley Resort is peaceful and quiet in a setting of paper birches, maples, and white pines. They have sites available for tenting to luxury RVs. 150 sites have picnic tables and fire rings. They have many with 20, 30, and 50 amp electric service. Restrooms, showers, a store and gift shop, firewood, propane, ice and even movie rentals are available. They have two dump stations, a basketball court, volleyball court, playground, two swimming pools, fishing, tubing, and much more.
Lake Placid/Whiteface is a full service campground with cabins, tents, lean to's and RV sites. Whiteface is located at the base of Whiteface Mountain bordered by the Ausable River. Whiteface has 165 RV sites, 48 with full hookups, 29 cabins, and tent spaces. They also have a dump station and propane.
Niagara County Camping Resort is located just 22 miles northeast of Niagara Falls and 2 ½ miles north of the historic Erie Canal. Niagara County Resort is a family campground. They are situated on 64+ acres with pull-through RV sites, tent and trailer sites, and cabin rentals. They have electric hookups, a dump station, free hot showers, and clean restrooms. There is a camp store, ice, propane and firewood available. They offer free miniature golf, basketball, and a petting zoo.
Oak Orchard is a family campground with 72 sites located on 45 acres next to the Montezuma Wildlife Refuge on the Clyde River just five miles north of Seneca Falls and Cayuga Lake. All campsites have water and electric available. They also have cottages with two bedrooms, a bath, kitchen, and a screened porch. The cottages are furnished with everything you will need other then bedding and kitchen utensils. The campground has propane, ice, bait and tackle, a dumping station, laundry, and store.
Red Barn Campground is located along the Delaware River in Hankins. They are a family campground with 89 sites, 28 having full hookups, and tent sites available. They have a dump station and offer canoeing, tubing, and fishing.
Seaway Island Resort is located on Wellesley Island and offers 35 Full sites, 75 Partial sites, and 50 with no hookups available. They offer a clubhouse, swimming pool, playground, pavilion, picnic area, store, snack bar, laundry, volleyball, basketball, fishing, and much more.
Spruce Row Campsite and RV Resort is located in the Fingerlakes just above Cayuga Lake a few miles from Ithaca. This is a family campground with 181 sites for tents to RV’s. Spruce Row offers cabin rentals also and has a pool, hiking, fishing, and miniature golf available.
Thousand Islands/Seaway Region of New York State has many sites and here a few of them:
• Keewaydin State Park, Alexandria Bay, New York has 41 sites. They have showers, ice, handicap accessible, swimming pool, fishing, full service marina with 182 slips.
• Cedar Point State Park, Clayton, New York has 174 sites and 55 have electric. Showers are available, boat rentals, a boat launch, recreation area, swimming, fishing and ice.
• Wellesley Island State Park, Fineview, New York has 429 sites of which 74 have electric. They have showers, a full service marina, boat rentals, canoe rides, swimming, fishing, miniature golf, hiking, a store and ice.
• Robert Moses State Park, Massena, New York has 168 sites with 38 having electricity. Swimming, fishing, boat rentals, marina with slips, recreation area, ice, and showers are available.
Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park at Crystal Lake has over 180 campsites including large RV sites, shaded tent sites, and trailer. They also have trailer rentals, one and two room cabins. Free hot showers, Laundromat, snack bar, store, propane, honey wagon, free cable TV, picnic table and fire ring at each site, canoes, paddle boats, miniature golf, swimming pool, and of course Yogi Bear and Boo Boo, and much more.
Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park at Paradise Pines has cabin rentals, trailer rentals, 170 campsites for tents to large RV’s. They have cable TV, picnic tables, fire rings, firewood, propane, ice, heated swimming pool, kiddy pool, spa, boating, tubing, a camp store, snack bar, and of course Yogi Bear and Boo Boo, and much more.
