Les Saintes, located in the French West Indies, is a paradise all its own. This paradise has an irregular shoreline, complete with rocky coves and quiet bays that create a playground for tourists. Tourists can enjoy fishing, swimming, scuba, water-skiing and windsurfing.

Sightseeing is another popular activity among the tourists who visit here. Terre-de-Haut, which is three miles long and two miles wide, is perfect for a sightseeing adventure. No matter where the adventure may take you, the Caribbean’s translucent turquoise waters are always near. A sightseeing trip up to Le Chameau will afford the tourist a bird’s eye view of what not only Terre-de-haut, but also the seven other islands that are the archipelago of Les Saintes. This view is awesome any time of the day, but can become a memory of a lifetime when it occurs at dawn or dusk.
A trip to Les Saintes is not complete without a journey to Fort Napoleon. Fort Napoleon, built by the French over a century ago and restored almost 20 years ago, has never been used during any war. It has never had a shot fired at it or from it and the mementos found inside it have no military theme to them. This fort is also found on the island’s coat of arms. Visitors should come to the fort in the morning, between 9 and 12 and should bring their camera. The grounds surrounding the fort contain exotic cactus gardens, which are some of the most beautiful in all the Caribbean.
Shopping is also another interesting activity for tourists when visiting Les Saintes. There are many interesting shops and boutiques found here. Dining here is also a big hit with tourists. The magnificent settings often accompany exquisite French cuisine making the dining experience one to remember for years to come. One thing to keep in mind when dining here is that this is not fast food. The dining experience allows the tourist to wind down and relax while their food is being prepared and served.
Les Saintes offers some type of event every month of the year from a New Year’s Day celebration to Mardi gras to Christmas Day, which finishes the yearlong celebrating. There are plenty of activities to keep any visitor as busy as they wish to be, but there is also solitude available if that is what the visitor wishes.
