Adventurous visitors to the city of Prague will not want to miss these hot spots, featuring music and dancing of all types and varieties. These are the best places in the city for a memorable night out.
Duplex: Looking out over Wenceslas Square, at the top of a skyscraper, Duplex is definitely the club with the best view of the city. With a slightly more sophisticated clientele than other bars and clubs in the city, Duplex is the best place to dress up and dance the night away in a trendy environment. An ever-changing roster of DJs from around the world keeps the beat going all night long.
Akropolis: One of Prague's hidden bars, near the base of the imposing TV Tower, this complex underground location features a variety of music and DJ rooms. With friendly people and cheap drinks, it has been a favorite of locals for years. The maze of corridors and rooms may seem imposing, but you'll soon find your way to a comfortable corner and enjoy the music and drinks with interesting people.
Karlovy Lazne: Five stories high, throbbing with lights and music, and filled with hundreds of dancers and partygoers on any given night, Karlovy Lazne bills itself as the largest dance club in Eastern Europe. They may well be right; for once inside, you'll have your choice of six types of music and environments, from the rock on the ground level to house on the upper levels.
Lucerna: Featuring the city's best 80s Night, ever Friday and Saturday night, this bar is found right off of Wenceslas Square. A large dance floor, complete with a stage and huge screen showing videos of each song they play, it's hard not to get into the mood at Lucerna. The club attracts an international crowd, and everyone is friendly, so it's a good place to meet and make friends. Plus, the lineup of ‘80s music with an Eastern European twist is not soon forgotten.
Roxy: A converted movie theater, with the original ramped floor and balcony seating, the Roxy is the main alternative venue in the city. Although popular with a younger, hard-rocking crowd, the club also attracts a fair number of tourists and expats on weekends, when visiting DJs spin a wide variety of music until dawn. The club serves very cheap drinks and shots.
Ungelt: “The Golden Trumpet”, this small underground jazz club is located right behind the many-spired cathedral at Old Town Square. With different musicians every night, but the same smooth beer and friendly staff, this is a favorite location for locals and tourists alike. This is also one of the longest-running Jazz clubs in the city, keeping Prague's history of jazz and blues alive and well.
Chateau Rouge: One of the oldest dive bars in the city center, Chateau has gone through several name changes but has never lost its dark appeal. With cheap beer, interesting people, and an ambience that makes you think of the Paris Red Light District, this is a bar you won't soon forget. A newly opened dance floor downstairs keeps the music going until 5, with a large crowd of people and dancers, as well as a lively bar.
Molly Malone's: One of the best Irish pubs in Prague, Molly Malone's serves draft Guinness as well as a wide selection of imported and domestic beers. With a largely English-speaking clientele, you'll feel at home in no time at all in this warm, friendly location. This is also a great bar for watching foreign sports events, as long as you don't mind the rowdy English and Scottish fans.
Double Trouble: Only five minutes walk from Old Town Square; this is one of the wildest and craziest bars in the city. Even on weeknights, this place is usually packed with young tourists and foreigners looking for a good time. The drinks and music keep going until late into the night, and there is always action at this place. Warning: Not for the faint of heart!
Hapu: A tiny expat-run cocktail bar in the Zizkov area of town, this bar serves up the best drinks in the city. Every night a different and unusual cocktail or shot is offered as a special, and the bartenders are always more than willing to suggest a drink for the curious visitor. Full of locals and young Czechs, this is one of the nicest places for a drink in the city.
