It seems it may no longer be neccessary to suffer through the frustration and agony of lighting a portable stove with cold numb fingers, or keeping the hungry family in limbo while trying to start a recalcitrant stove. The day of the portable electronic igniton stove has arrived.

Lighting a portable stove used to be an unpredictable hit-or-miss proposition. After pumping up the stove and fumbling with a match that would not spark or a lighter that would only spark the food would oftentimes remain cold and uncooked while the chef cussed and fumed. Sometimes the matches or lighter were forgotten or could not be found. Sometimes a reason for the stove not lighting could not be ascertained. The gremlins would keep the stove from lighting.

Today it is simple and easy to light a portable stove. The answer is electronic igniton. Many portable stoves available on storeshelves have electonic ignition installed. It is usually a piezo style system which has proved to be very reliable under many different climates and situations. Of course if the electronic ignition fails to work there is always plan B. It is possible to light a portable electronic stove the old fashioned way. A match or lighter can be used if neccessary.

Electronic ignition is easy to use. Make sure there is fuel, usually a nice compact little refillable canister, turn the fuel on then push a button and a small spark lights the flame. There are no batteries needed or any other type of separate electrical source.

There are safety factors involved and they should be followed. For instance it is not safe for a child to operate the portable electronic stove. It is possible for a child to light the stove with this type of ignition but it should always be under adult supervision. All the other safety rues involved with lighting a standard non-electronic igniton stove should be adhered to. It should be reinforced to treat fire with respect. Do not let fuel fumes build up in the area and then strike the electronic igniton. This could cause a burst of flame with unpleasant consequences.

There are many advantages to using the portable electronic igntion stove. It is light, it has it's own lighting system and is reliable. It is the modern way of lighting up the cookstove. But there are some drawbacks. Many conventional stoves can be used with charcoal or wood. This is useful if there is no fuel to be had or if the fuel runs out. It is difficult if not impossible to ignite wood or charcoal with an electronic ignition. While it is possible to put the cooked goods on the table with a conventional portable stove it is not going to happen with a portable electronic igniton stove. But this should not happen often. Fuel cannisters abound. They can be purchased just about anywhere. They are small and easy to pack up and transport. Sometimes it is easier to get the fuel cannisters than it is to acquire wood or charcoal.

All-in-all the portable electronic ignition stove is a good advancement of technology. Like the CD has superseded the cassette, or the DVD is making the VHS obsolete, the electronic ignition portable stove is making deep inroads into the popular use of portable stoves.
