This Los Cabos beach guide includes beaches located in the Pacific Coastline, Cabo San Lucas, the Tourist Corridor, San Jose del Cabo and the East Cape regions.

Beaches along the Pacific Coast are Playa El Faro Viejo, Las Margaritas Beach, Playa Migrino, Playa Los Cerritos, San Pedro, Playa Las Palmas, Punta Lobos and others.

Playa El Faro Viejo, also known as The Old Lighthouse Beach, has a mechanized lighthouse that replaced the former lighthouse that the beach was named for. Getting to the lighthouse is an adventure as all terrain vehicles (ATV’s) are not permitted here, but getting to the beach can be accomplished by passenger car on the road provided. Visitors here will enjoy towering sand dunes constructed by the winds blowing off the Pacific Ocean, sweeping vistas, spectacular views from atop the hill and soft sand.

Playa Las Margaritas offers a peaceful and quiet beach, but no margaritas. This beach is located about 1.5 miles along a dirt road. The visitor to this beach will find a primitive campground near the ocean.

Playa Los Cerritos also offers camping on a beautiful beach located just south of Pescadero. This beach features cliffs at the western end and a crescent shaped beach. Surfers are the biggest visitors to this beach and swimming is relatively safe.

Playa San Pedrito, also known as Playa El Estero, is another popular surfing beach, which also has camping complete with hookups, swimming pool, restaurant, bathrooms, hot showers. Attractions here are whale watching and mango groves.

Playa Las Palmas, also known as Playa San Pedro, is a small beach bordered with groves of palm trees. This beach offers hiking, swimming and body surfing as well as easy access.

Playa Punta Lobos is the local beach located several miles out from Todos Santos. Local fishermen use this location to launch their pangas. This beach also features rocks and a lighthouse as well as a deserted cannery. Long walks and beach combing are common here.

Other beaches in this area are Playa Migrino, known as the whale-watching beach, is much like Playa Las Margaritas. This beach is also the perfect place for a peaceful and quiet location. Playa El Cajoncito, has a rocky point with a picturesque beach. Swimming is not recommended here due to strong waves and rocks. Great views of the coastline are offered from a hill located just west of this beach. Playa Las Cabrillas offers camping, picnic facilities, and is located just off the highway.

Cabo San Lucas beaches are Playa El Medano, Playa del Amor, Divorce Beach and Playa Solmar. These beaches offer water sports as well as sunbathing along with rest and relaxation.

Playa El Medano, also known as The Dune Beach, is the most popular beach in Cabo San Lucas because it is located close to town and is safe for swimming. This beach begins at the eastern end of the harbor, extends along Cabo San Lucas Bay to Villa del Palmar. Attractions here are hotels, bars and restaurants as well as activities such as swimming, jet skiing, kayaking, water skiing, banana boating, parasailing and volleyball. Diving and snorkeling are also available here.

Playa del Amor, also known as Lover’s Beach is located on the Sea of Cortez side of Land’s End and is often featured in advertising for Cabo San Lucas. Transportation to this area is by floating transportation only, such as a water taxi, but be sure to make arrangements for the trip back. Diving and beautiful views are available here, but swimming is dangerous and should only be attempted on the Sea of Cortez side of this beach. Be sure to bring a lunch and plenty of water.

Divorce Beach, located on the Pacific side, is a white sandy beach just a short walk from Playa del Amor. This beach is excellent for sunbathing and just relaxing, but is not recommended for swimming.

Playa Solmar, is a wide, white sandy beach, facing the Pacific Ocean and stretches from the rocks at Land’s End west to Pedregal. Along this stretch of beach, a visitor will find resorts and suites as well as strong waves and currents, making this a sunbathing and strolling beach.

Beaches along the Tourist Corridor are Playa Santa Maria, Chileno, Monuments Beach, Twin Dolphin Beach, Costa Azul, Palmilla, Playa Acapulquito, Bledito, Rio Carachol Beach Club, Playa Cabo Real and others. Visitors to these beaches can enjoy diving, snorkeling, sun bathing or relaxing.

Playa Santa Maria, also known as Santa Maria Beach, is a horseshoe shaped beach with pink sand, located in a protective cove. This area is home to a protected marine sanctuary with many beautifully colored creatures. Visitors here enjoy snorkeling, sun bathing or just relaxing on the beach.

Playa Bahia Chileno, or the Chiliean Beach, is located next to the Hotel Cabo San Lucas on Chileno Bay. This is an excellent diving spot, while Monuments Beach is a smaller beach, but is alive with surfers.

Playa Las Viudas, also known as Twin Dolphin Beach or Widow’s Beach, located southwest of Hotel Twin Dolphin, is a beautiful area to enjoy peace and quiet. There are several secluded spots here, perfect for private picnics or special moments.

Costa Azul, known as the Blue Coast Beach, is a half-mile stretch of beautiful sandy beach, often the hot spot for surfers. Located here is a surf camp, rental cabanas, beach restaurant, stores and services.

Playa Palmilla or Palmilla Beach is located at Hotel Palmilla. This beach is perfect for sunbathing, snorkeling, wildlife watching or spending a relaxing vacation on the beach.

Playa Acapulquito, known as Old Man’s Beach is located west of Playa Costa Azul. Swimming and surfing are popular here.

Playa Bledito, known as Tequila Cove, is west of Playa Cabo Real, with access through Hotel Melia Cabo Real. This beach is a safe swimming location created by fabricated breakwater. Also located here is first class beach clubs, restaurants, swimming pools, tide pools, showers, restrooms and equipment rentals.

Rio Caracol Beach Club, named after the fossilized snails found in the adjacent arroyo offers a restaurant, wading pool, showers, restrooms and kayaks. Visitors here can expect to find low-keyed privacy, a reasonable menu and ambiance.

Playa Cabo Real, also known as Buenos Aires, reaches to the Melia Cabo Real Beach and Golf Resort. Visitors here will find quiet solitude and relaxation.

Other beaches located in this area are Westin Regina Resort Beach, Playa El Tule and Playa Barco Varado. Westin Regina Resort Beach, located at Westin Regina Resort Los Cabos is lined with coves and sandstone. Playa Barco Varado, known as Shipwreck Beach, is called this because of a Japanese freighter wreckage located on the rocks of this beach. Playa El Tule is a beach that is good for surfing at times throughout the year.

East Cape beaches are La Playita, Playa La Laguna, Cabo Pulmo, Playa Anonima, Fig Tree Beach, Playa Los Frailes, Playa El Rincon, La Ribera and others. Visitors to these beaches will enjoy fishing, swimming, diving, snorkeling and other water activities.

La Playita, also known as The Little Beach, is home to La Playa Sportfishing. Swimming is not recommended here, but fishing is excellent.

Playa La Laguna, located three miles from La Playita. This beach is usually deserted and swimming is safe. Small geoligiacal fissures in rock tidal pools create natural mini hot tubs.

Cabo Pulmo has a restaurant and enough room for RV’s, vans and campers. Cabo Pulmo has the distinction of being the only living reef on the Pacific coast, attracting divers and snorkelers. Windsurfers will also enjoy this location.

Playa Anonima, also known as the Anonymous Beach, is located between Pueblo La Playa and La Laguna Estates. This beach is perfect for camping or picnicking.

Playa Higuera also known as Fig Tree Beach, is named for an old fig tree located on this beach. Surf here is rough and is only for the adventurous at heart.

Playa Los Frailes, also known as The Monks Beach, is a popular beach. Swimming and rowing are available on this beach as is snorkeling and fishing.

Playa El Rincon begins at a beach house named El Rincon. A hotel is located here and activities available are windsurfing and swimming.

La Ribera is the fartherest beach from San Jose del Cabo at the village of La Ribera. Other beaches located in this area are Punta Colorada and Punta Arena.

A visit to any of these beaches of this area offers something for everyone, whether it is beach volleyball, building a sandcastle, swimming, diving, snorkeling, fishing, or just relaxing.
