A quick sydney beach guide

Sydney is the oldest city in Australia and a great place to visit any time of the year, with the exception of summer. In the summer, Sydney is very humid and has an occasional torrential downpour. The temperature in Sydney averages around 77*F, except in the summer, when it can get over 104*F. The people who live in Sydney can have over 300 sunny days in a year, which is great for beach goers. There are many beaches stretching along the coast that has beautiful golden sand for those who love relaxing on the beach or for someone who loves to tackle the surf. In Sydney, beach life is a way of life and here are some of the best beaches to visit in Sydney.

The first and most famous beach in Sydney is Bondi Beach. This beautiful golden, sandy beach is a wide strip of beach and at the southern end has a public seawater rock pool. This beach is very famous and has been visited by some of the most famous people, such as Prince Charles. Bondi Beach is home to the Bondi Icebergs Club. They are a club that swims here during even the coldest winter months. Bondi Beach is very popular with the surfing crowd, this beach has great waves that break at the southern end. Bondi Beach is also great for taking relaxing walks, whether it's during the day or in the evening. Bondi Beach is also famous for its' Beach Pavilion. This includes a cafe, changing rooms and chairs and sunshades that you can rent. There is a surf patrol that is set up in designated places that patrol the beach and keep everyone safe. These areas are marked with red flags. Another place to visit is Campbell Parade, which has hotels, cafes, hair and beauty salons and boutiques. There are also restaurants that you can find great food from Indian to Japanese to Mexican. There is a footpath on the beachfront that links Bondi Beach to another great beach hangout called Tamarama Beach.

Tamarama Beach is a small, pretty beach that is surrounded by houses and cafes. Tamarama Beach is a very trendy and popular beach. This beach is popular with joggers and power walkers. This is a great place to stop and have coffee and just enjoy the sights. A spot that is a must to visit here is Mackenzies Point. This place gives you a great view of Bondi Beach and all the other beaches to the south. From this beach, you can reach Bronte Beach if you walk along the footpath on the beachfront.

Bronte Beach is very popular among beach goers. Bront Beach is like a miniature version of Bondi Beach. Bronte Beach is well known for its cafes. Along these footpaths, there are great views for any sightseer. Bronte Beach is close to the inner city. It is great for body surfing and has a nice area for picnics and barbecues.

Another nice beach to visit is Manly Beach. This beach is a popular beachside resort. This beach is a favorite beach with many generations of families. This is the beach where Aussie surfing started. Manly Beach has a promenade that hosts a large number of surf shops. From this beach, you can visit cafes, restaurants, boutiques and even Oceanworld, an aquarium.

Palm Beach is the northern most beach. This beach is a perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. This is also a popular beach for surfing. Palm Beach is also the location of the popular Australian TV soap opera "Home and Away". Along the beach, there are less restaurants and cafes, development here is limited. There is a lighthouse that can be visited to get great views of the beach. In this area, there is also a golf course. Palm Beach is about an hours drive north of Sydney and along the way it is host to other beach stops, such as Avalon Beach and Newport Beach.

Avalon Beach is most known for its incredibly white sand. One important bit of information is that this beach can have dangerous rip tides. This beach does have beach inspectors patrolling during the busy season. At the southern end of the beach there is a spot for someone who just wants to enjoy the shade. There is also an ocean pool with a children's' section.

Newport Beach has people of all age groups that visit this beach. It is a great place if you like to surf. This beach is easy to get to by bus or by car. Newport beach does have beach patrol during busy daytime hours.

Another great beach to visit is Dee Why Beach. This beach is less common for tourists, but is very well known among Sydney's local crowd. It is becoming one of the more popular places to hangout. It is one of the northern beaches in Sydney. One suggestion, when visiting Dee Why Beach, is to stop in at The On Shore Cafe for a great breakfast while overlooking the beautiful beach. Dee Why Beach has been redesigned and a new promenade has been added. At the southern end of the promenade is a sheltered rock pool for swimming without having to deal with the waves from the ocean. This beach does have life guards in designated areas, between the red and yellow flags. There is a walk that goes along this beach and connects it to other beaches. This is a great walk in the evening, especially when the sea mist rolls in to make it a romantic and magical place to be. There are many places to eat, from pizza to sea food. Dee Why Beach has become one of Sydney's favorite spots for local beach goers.

Whether you're into surfing or just relaxing on the beach, Sydney has more than enough beaches for anyone to visit. The weather is great for beach going and the sights are beautiful to see. Most of the beaches have great places to eat and to just relax. So if you ever visit Sydney, the beaches, any of the beaches, should be #1 on your list of things to do.
