The islands of St. Kitts and Nevis are said to be the most beautiful of the Caribbean. They are filled with exotic beaches, clear blue waters and skies that reach for miles. The gorgeous atmosphere leads to a wide range of outdoor activities. Not only is there an abundance of sunlight action, the nightlife is energetic as well.
An excellent way to catch the scenery is to rent a horse. There are miles of warm sandy beaches to explore and amplitudes of dense rain forests, great for photographic opportunities. Riding can be arranged through the hotel you choose. Be careful to pick the conditions that fit your needs. There are some rides that children less than six years old are not allowed and then some rides all children under 18 must wear helmets. Guided tours on horseback can also be arranged. If monitoring is more your forte there are several horse races to take part in. Indian Castle racetrack in Nevis is one of the only tracks in the world that the horses run clockwise instead of counter clockwise.
Scuba diving is becoming a fast-recognized sport on these islands. There are many shipwrecks that are unexplored off the beaches. Equipment and guided scuba parties are readily available from hotels. Sailboats can be hired; however, Nevis has very limited amenities. There are independent companies to rent gear and services from as well. You can have an excellent time exploring the clear blue waters and the magnificent shipwrecks with scuba and snorkeling gear.
Several hiking trails lead through to the thick rain forests and to massive dormant volcanoes. Again, guides can be arranged from the hotels. Instructions on the trails and medical advice for the vegetation are offered. Mountain climbing equipment is obtainable through hotels or private companies. View the immense land from the peak of the mountains, breathe in that moist air, have a picnic and take in the scenery. There are a few mountains that are climbable on both St. Kitts and Nevis. Some companies offer guided day hikes and day climbing adventures.
If history and the paranormal are your department, Nevis is the place to be. There are many historical buildings, houses and plantations to explore. In the Center of Main Street is Memorial Square, in honor of the men who served in the Great War of 1914-1918. On Chapel Street, the Charlestown Methodist Church stands for all to view. This church was built in 1844, the most latent structure in Nevis. After visiting Charlestown, going southward will bring you to Fort Charles. The British built the fort in 1690 then remodeled it in 1783 then again in 1790, to serve as a military iron grip. Butler's Village in Nevis has a haunted house called the Eden Brown Estate. Visitors can stop by and investigate the property. When walking around the grounds, it's said that you can see a bride weeping.
Bring your own clubs or rent some at one of the three golf courses. They include an 18-hole championship course on Nevis plus an 18-hole international championship course and a 9-hole course on St. Kitts. Two are owned and maintained by reputable hotels, Marriott Royal Resort and Four Seasons Resort. They have amazing views of the mountains and the blue sea.
The nightlife is dynamic. After sun bathing all day or any other activities you embark on, take in the night. In the Frigate Bay area there is a casino, to spend your nights playing poker, slots, craps or whatever you choose. There are many bars and nightclubs with dancing, food and karaoke spread out over the islands.
Nevis is St. Kitts sister island. A water channel separates these two isles. Nevis is easily reachable by plane or ferries. Both islands have great exploring and activities to complete the sunny days and dancing nights.
