Little Rock is a fast growing city, and the capital of Arkansas. Because of its quickly rising population, there are many things for kids to do here. Besides the plentiful parks, libraries, and arcades, there are museums, amusement parks, and local sights that are geared toward the whole family.

Among its many children friendly museums is the Museum of Discovery. The exhibits change often, so there is always something new to learn. The museum features many hands-on activities, and traveling exhibits from all over the country. Located at 500 President Clinton Avenue Suite 150.

Another great museum is the Historic Arkansas Museum. It's a great educational outing where kids can learn anything from the early settlers, to evolution of Arkansas art. Located at 200 E. Third Street.

A great museum for older kids, or anyone interested in the history of civil rights movement would enjoy the Central High Museum and Visitor Center. This museum is centered on the integration crisis that changed our country forty years ago in this now famous Little Rock high school. The location is 2125 W. Daisy L. Gatson Bates.

The University of Arkansas, Little Rock Campus, also offers a kid friendly activity. Its planetarium gives kids an insight into the universe by projecting the view of the night sky from any place on earth on its massive dome. The planetarium offers programs throughout the year, including special kid's programs, and handles large groups by appointment. It is located on the north side of campus at 2801 South University.

A very entertaining and still educational place for kids to go is the Aerospace Education Center. This center features an IMAX Theater, which always amazes any child. Located at 3301 E. Roosevelt Road.

Little Rock is also full of fun places for the whole family. Gator Park is a family oriented fun park with varied activities. There are batting cages for those sports fans, bumper boats, go carts and an arcade with plentiful video games for those who like to be indoors. It's a breeze to get to at 11000 S. Interstate 30.

If water activities are what you like, there are two fantastic places in Little Rock. First, there's Wild River Country Raft Rides, who can be contacted, at (501) 753-8600 for details. There's also Willow Springs Water Park for those who like to slip and slide in their water. Located at 3903 Willow Springs Road.

For animal lovers, nothing beats a zoo. The Little Rock Zoo is the perfect zoo for children, and perfect for an afternoon. It's not too big, but still has plenty to see. Established in 1926 with just a circus bear and a wolf, it has grown over the years to contain over 600 animals. It even has some endangered species, and educated visitors on conservation and protection. Easy to find, 1 Jonesboro Drive, near the University campus.

Another fun place to visit is the Two Rivers Corn Maze, located in Two Rivers Park. Open only during the month of October, but the fun is worth the wait.

Weather for education, or entertainment, Little Rock has many great places for kids, and families.
