Whether you live in Greensboro or you are just visiting, if you have children you will want to keep them entertained. Located in North Carolina, Greensboro has lots of things for children and their families to do.

Greensboro Children’s Museum is open to the public Tuesday through Sunday; Mondays are special members-only days, and Friday nights are Family Friday Nights. In the museum, children can enjoy a series of interactive exhibits that allow children to experience adult life. From the Our Town Bank to the Construction Zone, kids can have fun pretending to be adults and learning about adult life. A busy day at the Greensboro Children’s Museum will make anyone hungry. Kid’s can enjoy healthy meals made just for children at the Georgie’s on Church Deli. Families can also bring their own lunch and have a picnic in the museum’s North Garden area. The museum also offers summer camps, workshops, birthday parties, and facility rentals.

Although the Greensboro Natural Science Center is fun for everyone, it is especially fun for children. With a museum, a zoo, and a planetarium, no kid could ever be bored at the Greensboro Natural Science Center. Future astronauts can watch space and science fiction shows at the Edward R. Zane Planetarium. At the zoo, children can get a hands-on experience as they pet and feed many animals. The aquarium and herpetarium contains many fascinating, and some rather frightening, creatures, including a shark, snakes, a gila monster, a pancake tortoise, and poison dart frogs. The Greensboro Natural Science museum offers an array of school programs, classes, and birthday party options. And the learning that begins at the center does not need to end when the day is over; the Thesaurus Shop has educational and fun toys, books, and kits for sale.

Greensboro has several beautiful parks that both children and their parents will enjoy. Barber Park is a dream world for an active kid. With hiking trails, a play ground, a Bronco baseball stadium, and more, this park can be visited day after day. Nature lovers will take pleasure in everything that the Hagan-Stone Park has to offer. The Hagan Stone Park has 409 acres of campground complete with swimming areas, fishing areas, and hiking trails. At the Bur-Mil Park, families can swim, fish, or hike. There are many more city parks in Greensboro, and many of the parks offer supervised summer programs for children.

In addition to the city parks, Greensboro is also home to the Peabody Park at the University of North Carolina, which was established in 1901. Not only is this large park fun, but it has also been important to the study of natural history. The Buffalo Creek runs through the park; the park also contains forested areas as well as open fields. Families can take a tour of the park and learn about the diverse local wildlife.

Children will love the many activities that Greensboro has to offer. Whether they want to play sports, learn about science, or just relax in a beautiful park, Greensboro has many fun destinations for parents and kids alike.
