We call a professional right away. There are treatments that can be applied that to save the tree depending on how far advanced it is. Oak wilt spreads and you do not want to lose trees that are rather large and mature. We can't really replace them because of the cost, but you call a professional and have them come out and get on it right away. It does tend to be somewhat expensive depending on how bad the problem is and how many trees you have, but you definitely want to make sure that you don't do any cuttings on the tree. You don't take any tools then stick them into an infected tree and then turn around and use the same drill in another tree. If the infected tree has oak wilt, you can infect the tool and then spread the infection to another tree.
