I think people are going for slightly below the waist, which is an inch below the belly button, instead of the very low hip hugger styles. I don't understand how people feel comfortable in those anyway because when you're sitting down you better have a jacket to cover yourself. So people are looking for jeans that are slightly below the waist, which is the most flattering cut for almost everyone. High-waisted and tapered jeans are not in style anymore and they aren't very flattering either, although you might want a pair of tapered jeans to wear under tight knee-high boots. That's very in right now. Knee-high suede boots with jeans, a cute little brown velvet blazer or white shirt, and some stranded necklaces, I think that's so cute.

Another tip is to fitted buy jeans that are a size larger than you normally buy because it actually makes you look skinnier. When you buy a pair of jeans a little bit bigger, they kind of hang on your hips and for some reason it gives the illusion that you are actually skinnier than you really are.

The same goes for choosing wide leg and boot cut pants, because when the pants hang on your hips instead of hugging them it makes your butt, your hips, and your waist look smaller. It creates an hourglass shape.
