How to Turn Off Quickbooks Merchant Services Processing

By Michaela Davila

  • Overview

Quick Books merchant services processing is an extremely convenient system to use to process credit card payments. However, at a certain point, whether it be that your business is growing or shutting down, you may need to cancel your merchant services. If you do not officially close-out these services, you will continue to be billed.
    • Step 1

Run any credit cards that currently need to be billed before you cancel your services. Make sure that any pending payments have gone through. If you are planning to switch services, ensure your new merchant service system is up and running so that you can continue to accept credit card payments without interruption.
    • Step 2

Call Quick Books customer service at (800) 558-9558 when you are ready to cancel your services. Follow the prompts until you are able to speak with an agent. You will be asked to provide your account number and information to verify your identity. Inform her that you wish to cancel your account and ask to no longer be billed. The agent may ask you to mail a signed letter to officially cancel your account.

    • Step 3

Mail a letter to Innovative Merchant Solutions, at 21215 Burbank Blvd, #100, Woodland Hills, California, 91367, requesting that your account be canceled. Put the letter to the attention to the agent you spoke with when you called. In your letter include your name, merchant identification number and the date, and write that you wish to have your account canceled. Type and sign your name as reflected on your account. For extra protection, send a certified letter. By certifying a letter you will have a guarantee of its receipt because it will have to be signed for.
    • Step 4

Check the bank account that you pay for your services with the following month, to make sure that you are no longer being billed for your Quick Books merchant services processing.
