Bread is a good source of protein. Breads also contain vitamins, iron and calcium. Wheat breads are good for their fiber content, which helps keep the bodies digestion system regulated.

Breads can also be high in salt. People with allergic reaction to molds may have a reaction. Bread also lacks vitamins and minerals that can be made up with other food groups. Remember that, " Man can not live on bread alone."

Bread is really not that fattening. One slice of regular white bread is about 80 calories. White bread contains iron, niacin and calcium. Rye bread, one slice also contains approximately 65 calories, and is a good source of Iron and thiamine. Pumpernickel, may be an unusual name but is a good source of fiber, one slice is about 80 calories and also contains Iron and Thiamine. Whole wheat breads are a good source of Iron and contain about 60 calories per slice.



Bagels, English muffins, and Pitas are all good sources of Iron. These are higher in calories, ranging from 105 to 165 calories per piece.

There are various forms of bread from all parts of the world. Some Italian originated bread is Chapatti and the Indian Ciabatta. Cornbread is originated from the Southern United States. Matzo is Jewish bread served at Passover meals. Naan originated in India, and tortilla is Mexican bread.

There are numerous kinds of breads to try. Breads are a part of a nutritional system that must be followed to have a healthy body.
