What Is Vig RX?

By Dana George

  • Overview

With the advent of Viagra and Cialis, a crop of all-natural male enhancement formulas made its way to the shelves. No prescription was needed, so it made it easier for any guy who suffered from erectile dysfunction to get treatment. Vig RX was one such product. However, this particular herbal supplement wasn't just sold as a way to achieve and maintain an erection, it was also hawked as a means to grow the penis and enhance the male libido.
  • Identification

At one time, Vig RX was primarily sold as an herbal supplement that treated impotence (erectile dysfunction). Yet, this seems to have taken a backseat to all the other claims. Now, Vig RX is touted as a male enhancement product that actually grows the size of your penis, improves your libido, increases your stamina, enhances your sexual attraction, boosts your sexual pleasure and decreases the potential of premature ejaculation while still treating impotence, though that last bit isn't really the selling point anymore. While there is the potential that one or more of the ingredients in Vig RX could help a man achieve and maintain an erection, the actual efficacy of the product is still unproven.

  • Ingredients

Though most of the formula is made up of herbal extracts and enzymes, a number of these components have shown, to a certain degree, some value. One ingredient in particular can be found in the majority of other male enhancement products on the market today--epimedium. Epimedium, or horny goat weed, has the supposed benefits of boosting a man's sex drive and maintaining a man's erection. The remaining ingredients, like ginkgo biloba, saw palmetto, catuaba bark, cuscuta seed, hawthorn berry and ginseng, are also said to aid in the aforementioned qualities, as well as help with sexual pleasure and enhance the libido.

  • Time Frame

Within the first month of use, the Vig RX manufacturer claims, you should generally experience longer lasting erections, with the potential of an increase in the size of your penis. After 2 months of taking Vig RX, you'll purportedly see a "dramatic change" in the length and width of you penis and an increase in your stamina, sexually speaking. Once you hit the 3-month mark, all the professed benefits should have taken hold. That being said, the claims made by the makers of Vig RX have not been tested or proven. The only evidence currently available is anecdotal.
  • Significance

Given that Vig RX and all the other nonprescription male enhancement products are herbal supplements, their claims are not usually tested by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration). While this may not seem like a big deal to some, it does pose one relatively sizable problem. And it has nothing to with whether or not a product actually works, though this does increase the chances of people being sold a "snake oil." When a product is not clinically tested, a certain unawareness of its derivatives and interaction come front and center, making its ingestion dangerous to some men. Although there is always this potential, even with prescription medications, herbal supplements are not typically taken under the supervision of a doctor.
  • Warning

Currently, the makers of Vig RX claim that the product has no side effects and there's a strong possibility that most men will not experience any problems. But, a number of the ingredients in Vig RX have been shown to cause side effects, including diarrhea, constipation and nausea, gas and bloating, loss in appetite, nosebleeds, insomnia, chest pain, racing heart rhythm, seizures, loss of libido and impotence. If you were to experience one or more of these side effects, especially when they become prolonged or worsen, stop taking Vig RX and contact a doctor immediately.
