Virginia City is actually a town rather than a city. The town was founded in 1859, and is located between Reno and Carson City, Nevada. The population is roughly 1,000 in the town itself with about 4,000 in the county. Virginia City is unique because of the elevation and the climate. There is a tremendous sense of community in Virginia City, everybody knows everybody. When a person dies, the whole town mourns their death. There is no typical weather in Virginia City because of the location in the Nevada High Desert. During the winter there is snow and during the summer there is heat and a little bit of rain. A tremendous amount of snow in Virginia City is not typical.
