Overview
Faux wood blinds offer all of the aesthetic benefits of real wood blinds, but with a few added perks. Faux blinds are more durable and require less maintenance. They won't fade or warp like real wood blinds, either. And they're easier to clean and less apt to be damaged while doing so.
How to Wash Faux Wood Blinds
-
Step 1
Take the blinds down from the window if you choose to or if it is practical to do so. You can clean your blinds while they are hanging. -
Step 2
Use a dry or damp cloth to clean one slat at a time. You may also find it easier and faster to use a sock on your hand to wipe the slats. A vacuum cleaner attachment is also a great way to remove dust and particles. -
Step 3
Soaking the blinds in six to eight inches of water with a mild soap is a good idea if the blinds are really dirty, but this technique should be used infrequently as it may cause the cords to rot. -
Step 4
Dry the blinds by letting them sit in a dry area on a towel or you can set them in front of a fan. Once they're dry, hang them up again.
