Well, a sunburn is a different process than a tan, basically it occurs when your body has had too much ultraviolet light and so blood vessels or capillaries in your skin either enlarge or burst creating the reddening effect and the warming effect of the skin. Generally, depending on the severity of the sunburn you want to take steps to cool the skin before you apply a lotion. Many of the lanolin based and aloe based lotions that you have, you want to apply only after the skin temperature has come down. Putting the lotion on will retain the heat within the skin. So it's best to cool the skin down not using anything too cold, not using anything like an ice pack, but using something like a cold compress to cool the skin down in an area that has been burned. Then use an aloe based product to help restore then use an aloe based product to help restore the skin cells.
