The year around average temperature is 74, but believe it or not, the water temperature is 77. The water in the Gulf of Mexico is usually a little warmer because we are in a subtropical climate. We are in a region that is gorgeous and green all the time. The temperature can get up into the low 90s in August and September, but then it drops back down into the 70s and by the time you get to December. You can usually go swimming on Christmas Day. Once in a while we will get cold front, but usually the winter night lows are in the 50s.
Summer is our rainy season. We have afternoon rain storms that cool us for a nice beautiful sunset. They don't last very long. The rainy season is usually May through October, which is why many people come after October to play golf and tennis. We do have mosquitoes, though. It's a trade off for being in such a wonderful subtropical climate, but that's what bug spray is for.
