The fall is gorgeous. We are well-known for the fall foliage and it always cracks me up when people call and say exactly what time do the leaves change, because there is no specific time. The fall, as a season, runs from mid-September through the end of October depending on where you are in Massachusetts. It is closer to October for Boston, but it is really great to get outside the city and drive around. You can also take the train out to Salem, which of course is famous for the witch trials and enjoy the Salem Witch Museum and the Peabody Essex and see the foliage. Spring is a relief after the winter. Winter is definitely very cold. We do get quite a bit of snow, but it's also a great time to get good deals on hotels. So, that is a good tip. You can still visit the city during the winter. Spring is gorgeous and summer does get to be hot, but not too terribly hot in Boston itself. We are right on the water so you get a lot of breezes off the water. I would say it is probably hottest in August.
