We have four distinct seasons, typically mild winters. We don't normally get any snow within the city. Mount Hood is about 60 miles to the east of Portland. We do get quite a bit of snow on the mountain but within the city itself the winters are pretty mild, but wet. We do get rain during the wintertime, but the temperature doesn't get that cold. The average high temperature for January is 46 degrees, well above freezing. Then in the summertime we are not an unbearably hot destination like you would find back in the mid-west or southwest, our average daytime high in August is only 81 degrees.
