Learn how to create a unique bridal bouquet from flowers and herbs you have grown for the most joyous day of your life.
If you decide to grow your own flowers for your bouquet, a lot of planning will have to go into doing this.First, you will need to decide if there is a color scheme you would like to use or if there is a special kind of flower you prefer.Be careful with mixing colors.
Make sure your special day is scheduled around the time your flowers will be in bloom. Some suggested flowers to grow would be: Roses, Tiger Lilies, Baby's Breath, Carnations, Miniature Roses, Violets, and Daisies. Are you interested in including herbs in your bouquet? They can add a wonderful scent to your bouquet not to mention how incredibly easy they are to grow.If you are a sentimental person like I am you may want to root some of the herbs that you carried in your bouquet and plant them at a later time. Some suggested herbs to grow would be: Lavender, Rosemary, and Sage.
After deciding on the flowers and herbs for your bouquet, you will need to purchase a flower holder that compliments your style and the flowers you will be carrying. There are several types of bouquets for you to choose from.Tussie mussies (attractive round easy to design bouquets) and cascade styles (round circle with trailing material at the bottom to create a vee shape) are among the prettiest. You will need a bow that will compliment your bouquet. You can also incorporate a lace handkerchief or an antique ribbon into your bow.
Once you are ready to harvest your flowers or herbs, take clean containers of water with you to the garden.Early morning or evening is the best time to get your flowers because this is the time when they are full of moisture.Using a sharp knife cut the stems at an angle. This enables the flower to soak up plenty of water.Let your flowers stand in water for at least two hour or overnight. This helps condition the flowers so they will not wilt. If you need your flowers to open up sooner, put them in slightly warm water. This will speed up the blooming process.Of course this will not let your flowers last as long after doing this.
Once it is time to begin arranging your flowers, start with the greenery first.Balance the stems opposite each other.Start with the outside perimeter first.Once this is complete, you should start placing the greenery in the middle. This will give your bouquet depth. If you are making a cascading bouquet, insert three long pieces of ivy into the bottom to establish your length. You can add shorter ivy throughout the top space.
After the greenery is complete, it is time to start with your flowers.Start with the center of your bouquet to place your flowers (I would recommend a rose in the center).Encircle this with small flowers.Add flowers to your cascading ivy.Add baby's breath or lavender throughout your bouquet to fill in the gaps. Once your bouquet is finished, mist your bouquet well and add your bow.Keep your bouquet in a refrigerator until needed. If you so desire, you can make a matching toss bouquet, bouquets for your bridesmaids and flower girl.
