Do you still need prizes for the wedding shower games you have planned? These simple, inexpensive ideas are sure to be a hit.
Almost every detail is in place. You have ordered, organized, shopped, and prepared. Now, all you have to do is select prizes to give out after the games.
1.Sachets
Purchase lace by the yard in different colors.Cut out 9" by 9" squares.Fill the center with potpourri that coordinates with the lace and has a nice scent.Gather the ends of the lace together at the center and tie them closed with satin ribbon.Hot glue some dried flowers (from the potpourri) onto the center of the knot or bow.
2.Flower Samplers
Choose small decorative flowerpots and fill them with packages of seeds, a pair of gardening gloves or small gardening tools.Wrap with cellophane and tie with a ribbon.
Alternatively, you can choose a large flowering plant that is easy to care for.Remove several cuttings and plant them in small pots or decorative containers. Print off small cards that offer instructions for how to care for the plants and attach them to the containers with stickers. If you prefer to skip the pots altogether, simply put three or four packets of flower seeds together and secure them with a pretty ribbon.
3. Coffee and Tea Samplers
Purchase stemmed glass coffee cups or stoneware mugs and tuck tissue paper inside, allowing the edges to splay out around the rim.Inside the tissue paper, add sample packets of instant flavored coffees or herbal teas.Decorate with cinnamon sticks.
4.Lotions and Notions
Buy a package of clear cellophane treat bags, normally used for children's parties.Fill them with trial-sized bottles of scented lotion, body spray, and shower gel.Tie the bags closed with curling ribbon to dress them up.
5.Chocolates
Purchase a package of individually wrapped premium chocolates and divide into small decorative packages, using colored cellophane or remaining cellophane bags.Tie with bright ribbon to make packages festive.Or, you can simply purchase premium candy bars or miniature boxes of chocolates and decorate each one with a bow.
6.Handy Gifts
Organizational items such as a daily planner, a shopping list tablet, or an address book complete with pens make nice practical gifts for the woman on the go.Other ideas include a stationary set with matching envelopes or a box of note cards.
7.Grab Bags
People shy away from the unknown, so grab bags are often the last prizes chosen.Make sure your grab bags are filled with useful items, so once one is opened, your other guests will see that they contain something good.A unique kitchen gadget, a change purse, or a purse-sized flashlight, all make nice prizes, as do small scented candles and pocket paperbacks.
Getting your guests involved in games is a great way to loosen things up.Reluctant guests may be more easily convinced to play if there are prizes, so offer plenty of items from which to choose and make sure the prizes are useful items that will make people smile.
