Every bride dreams of a beautiful wedding that will remembered by all the guests for years to come. Planning a memorable wedding can often become very expensive. With a little advanced planning and creativity, you can make some of your wedding decorations yourself. These do-it-yourself decorations can both add a unique decorative element to your wedding as well as save you some money. The following are a few ideas to get you started in creating your own wedding decorations.

*Floral Pew/Chair Decorations - Fresh flowers for a wedding can become very expensive. If you use a mixture of fresh flowers and artificial flowers, you will still get the fresh scent of the fresh flowers, but save yourself some money. A great place to use artificial flowers is on the ends of the pews or rows of chairs. Start with a grouping of artificial flowers. Depending on the size of the flowers, five to ten flowers should work. Gather the stems together and wrap floral tape in a spiral pattern from just below the blooms to the bottom of the stems. Just before getting to the end of the stems, poke about a foot of floral wire into the stem grouping. Secure the wire with the floral tape. Wrap a ribbon in the same spiral motion to the end of the wire to conceal the wire. Bend the wire so that the floral arrangement will hang securely off the end of the pew or row of chairs. Because this project uses artificial flowers, it allows you to construct this decoration well in advance of the wedding, leaving plenty of time for last minute details.

*Ribbon Streamers with Flowers - Beautiful ribbon streamers can create a nice draping effect at weddings. This easy project can also be constructed well in advance of the wedding. Any type of ribbon will work for this project. You may use multiple strands of the same ribbon or you may choose to use multiple types and colors of ribbons. Select the length of ribbon you wish to use. For longer streamers, use several feet of ribbon. Cut three or more strands of ribbon the same length. Tie the ends of your ribbons together and use a hot glue gun to attach a silk flower to conceal the knots. Continue this method until you have attached several groups of ribbons together creating a beautiful ribbon streamer decoration. Ribbons should hang loosely in the middle to create the draping effect.

*Draped Fabric - Lovely draped fabric is sure to add a beautiful touch to any wedding. Purchase several yards of sheer fabric. Often, you can find very inexpensive fabric of this sort at your local craft or fabric store. You may use one single color of fabric or may choose to use several colors. Drape the fabric around doorways, over windows or anywhere else that could use a nice touch for your wedding.

*Rose Petal Table Decorations - If you have tables at your wedding reception, rose petal decorations work well for centerpieces. Take a small clear glass fishbowl and fill it halfway with water. Drop a few rose petals on top of the water. They will float nicely providing an airy effect. Loosely sprinkle some additional rose petals around the bowl on the table.

*Double Duty Ceremony Decorations - Instead of purchasing additional flowers for the reception, reuse the flowers from the ceremony. For instance, you may use your floral arrangements from the ceremony as a focal point in the reception. Additionally, you may use the bridal attendants' floral bouquets as decorations on the wedding cake table.

These are just a few ideas to get you started in creating your own beautiful wedding decorations. When you decide to make your own decorations, keep in mind that you should plan the decorations well in advance of your wedding. With all of the stress that comes with putting together a wedding, you do not want to wait until the last minute to make your decorations. With some advanced planning and creativity, your wedding is sure to be remembered by guests for years to come.
