People usually use the word "turbine" to include the tower, which includes the stairway, the electrical lines, and then on top of the tower is the housing for all the electrical components. That is clumped in the cell and inside within the cell is the generator and then some other pieces of equipment, a cooler, some lubricants and some equipment to make sure that the electrical current is the right frequency. Then there's the big blade assembly called the rotor and usually there are three big blades and the blades can be pretty long and narrow. They are in the range of about 50 feet long. The difficult part about designing a wind turbine is that the wind turns out to be really, in most places, not very steady. It comes from different directions and so building a robust tower and rotor assembly that it is not going to get damaged by the wind turns out to be very hard. The components of the cell of the turbine itself are not very hard to understand.
