Frankly, it depends on whether or not you need a wired system. It depends on the type of home you have. Most homes in the west don't have basements. There are other homes that do have basements and attics. You might want to use a wireless system if you do not have a basement because it is difficult to run wires in your home. For homes with attics and basements, using a hardwired system might be a better alternative. It all depends.
