Are Women The Only Ones Who Need To Learn Self-Defense?

Are women the only ones who need to learn self-defense? Women, children, men and senior citizens all need to learn how to defend themselves. Self-defense can teach them how to use products and their body to defend themselves against violence.

No. It's all over the spectrum. Violence happens to kids in elementary school and it happens to old people outside their nursing homes. There is no age group. If you look like a victim, chances are you can become a victim eventually because the bad guys play on weaker people; it is just the way it is. Everyone should learn some form of self-defense, whether it's with a weapon or with the hands. Women are often taught they must learn and we assume that all men know how to fight and protect themselves. That is not necessarily true and furthermore, even if you know how to fight and know how to protect yourself, it doesn't necessarily help you. If somebody comes out, they may have the element of surprise, or may be several people attack you. You are not always going to be in a one on one street fight; this is how self defense can help you so much. When you are taking on multiple attackers, the pepper spray comes into play or martial arts may come into play. I believe everybody is at some risk, not just women. I say, women are at a higher risk only because women seem more vulnerable most of the time. So they are played upon more than men, but I believe everybody is vulnerable to some degree and therefore that's why we encourage self-defense training and self-defense products. Crime happens all over. There are higher crime areas in some neighborhoods. Crime can happen in any area. There are known crime areas; there are bad parts of every town that you don't go to. Crime can happen in a school parking lot or in a school lunch room. It can happen just about anywhere. We try to assure ourselves, but moving into nicer areas and shopping in nicer malls and sending our kids to nicer schools still doesn't guarantee crime is not going to happen. Most crimes happen at night because vision is down; you are not able to give as clear of a description of your attacker. Clearly, there is no exact time for criminal. They work when they feel like working.
